Membrane
Hanji, plastic mannequin, stone base. 25” x 45”x 18”.
For a long time I wanted to create a work connecting skin and dress. My work 'Membrane' is about porous skin which works as a border; delicate, frayed and fragile. A dress which cannot be worn in a conventional sense or an invisible dress we wear but cannot see. Material used here is hanji but not in the formed as paper. After cooking, the fibrous bark is expanded manually by delicately pulling and spreading it instead of beating it and forming sheets.
