Meeting Points 1
Daphne and pigmented cotton rag fiber, 15’ x 27’, 2026.
On view in IAPMA International Paper Art Biennale at KunstCentret, Silkeborg Bad, Denmark from Feb 8 till end of May 2026.
My work brings two worlds together. The bottom layer, formed from Daphne fiber, carries lines of Kannada—my mother tongue—whispered as poetry and descriptions of the natural world.
Across it, the upper layer of mixed Daphne and recycled paper traces lines inspired from the map of Silkeborg, but when the work is displayed they no longer read as a map; they shift, instead, into veins of an unknown terrain, like a body whose geography has yet to be named. The piece becomes a permeable membrane where dialogue can pass through, where inside and outside touch and blur. The visceral nature of the work—its materiality, tactility, and the fragile vulnerability of paper—comes to the forefront, while other narratives hover as additional layers.
The brown of the lines echoes the russet tones scattered through the surrounding landscape, binding image and place into a single quiet breath.
